This week we have put the spotlight on our senior quantity surveyor, Hannah Vasey, to find out about her work and why she chose to move into the industry.

1. Why did you choose Quantity Surveying?

I like numbers, organisation and working with lots of different people and Quantity Surveying fit the bill. 

• What is the best thing about being a QS?

Project diversity. I’ve worked on a wide range of schemes from Schools, Industrial Units, Swimming Pools and Prisons and no two projects are the same.

• What is the hardest thing about being a QS?

Managing multiple projects with different design and construction teams.

• What has been your favourite project to work on?

Forest Way, SEN School. This was the first project I worked and was a special one getting to see the impact the building had on the staff and students that attended.

• What has been your proudest career moment?

Being promoted and managing my own projects whilst completing my degree part time.

• Do you have a favourite building?

I love old factory and warehouse buildings that have been transformed into something new. Theres some great examples in Loughborough where our offices are.
